In March 2025 he said 'We eliminated these mafias' and that 64,000 acres had been recovered from land mafia (Deccan Herald). Official figures reported in December 2025 put deaths in police encounters since 2017 at 266, with about 11,000 injured. SP chief Akhilesh Yadav has alleged 'fake encounters'. NCRB data show UP recorded the most crimes against women in 2023, though its rate was not among the five highest.
