Following a review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on 10 July 2026, the Maharashtra government decided to set up a Special Investigation Team to examine about 15,407 suspicious claims detected under Ayushman Bharat-PMJAY and the Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Jan Arogya Yojana for 2024-2026, PTI reported. The SIT, headed by Nashik Divisional Commissioner Pravin Gedam, was directed to report within 30 days of its formation, covering fake or unnecessary claims, inflated procedures and empanelment irregularities. No SIT report or findings have been reported publicly so far.
