A 25-year-old man, Yash Dhanuka Agarwal, was arrested in Assam for stealing Rs 50 lakh from his family's locker on August 11. He spent most of the money on parties and his girlfriend Pubali Dutta. Traced to Ahmedabad by police with help from cyber security cell, he was handed over by his father to Jorhat Sadar Police Station. Agarwal confessed to involvement with Jitendra Somani and Rohit Prasad in the theft. Both suspects are at large as investigation continues.
Black-necked Storks Thrive in Gujarat Sanctuary, Producing Eight Fledglings
A Gujarat Ecological Education and Research (GEER) Foundation study published in the Journal of Threatened Taxa confirmed that Khijadiya Bird Sanctuary in Jamnagar is a critical breeding site for Black-necked Storks. Between July 2024 and March 2025, researchers found four active nests producing eight fledglings with no nest abandonment or chick mortality. The sanctuary's stable hydrological conditions and low human disturbance supported the storks' successful reproduction. This highlights the species' adaptation to invasive plants like Neltuma juliflora for nesting.
