“Double farmer income by 2022”

Narendra Modi pledged on 28 February 2016 to double farmers' income by 2022, and later official releases restated the goal. NSO's Situation Assessment Survey put average monthly agricultural household income at Rs 10,218 in 2018-19 against Rs 6,426 in 2012-13, per Down To Earth. In July 2022 Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar told the Lok Sabha incomes had 'more than doubled', without national figures; in 2026 NITI Aayog member Ramesh Chand wrote that farm producers' income at current prices rose 126% from 2014-15 to 2023-24.
