AAP's 2015 Delhi manifesto pledged to cut electricity bills by half; free power for households using up to 200 units a month was in place by 2022, with a 50% subsidy for 201-400 units, PTI reported. In March 2024 PTI reported around 22 lakh households got zero bills, and AAP minister Atishi said Kejriwal 'has committed to provide zero bills'. After the BJP formed Delhi's government in 2025, its cabinet approved continuing the subsidy for existing domestic consumers, and power minister Ashish Sood said 'we will not discontinue the subsidy' (The Statesman).
