On 20 May 2026, on his first north Bengal visit as Chief Minister, Suvendu Adhikari said the BJP government would fulfil its Sankalpa Patra promises, including the Annapurna Yojana of Rs 3,000 a month for women and free travel for women on state buses (PTI). Free bus travel was notified from 1 June, and Annapurna was launched in early June with 28.25 lakh women in the first phase (Deccan Herald). Deccan Herald reports the 2026-27 budget provides for about one crore beneficiaries against about 2.4 crore under Lakshmir Bhandar; Adhikari said enrolment reached 1.45 crore in August, amid protests over payment delays.
