On 13 July 2026, ahead of the 16 July Rath Yatra, West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced that the state government would give Rs 5 lakh each to 60 Rath Yatra committees, and handed cheques to a few committees from Kolkata and Howrah at the programme, PTI reported. Deccan Herald noted that the BJP, in opposition, had criticised the previous TMC government's grants to Durga Puja committees; Adhikari linked the new aid to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's emphasis on development and heritage. No report has been found on payment to all 60 committees.
