“Viksit Bharat by 2047 — developed India by centenary of independence”

In his Independence Day address on 15 August 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said India 'must resolve to make India a developed nation in the next 25 years', by 2047, the centenary of independence. NITI Aayog estimates developed status needs per capita income of about $18,000 and a $30 trillion economy, against $2,813 per head in 2025, Business Standard reported in September 2026. The Chief Economic Adviser projected a roughly $20 trillion economy by 2046 at current growth, and named investment, jobs and savings as 'real constraints'. The deadline is 2047.
